We are currently seeking an attorney with approximately 1–3 years of litigation experience who wants to develop into an excellent family-law attorney and have the opportunity to actually practice law.
Our associate attorneys work directly with clients, negotiate cases, appear in court, and take meaningful responsibility for their own matters. At the same time, we are a small, collaborative office where experienced attorneys are available to discuss strategy, answer questions, and provide support.
Family-law experience is helpful, but it is not required. We are particularly interested in attorneys with courtroom or litigation experience, including criminal, civil, juvenile, or other contested matters, who are interested in developing a family-law practice.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable in a courtroom, communicates well with clients, exercises good judgment, and wants increasing independence and responsibility.
Ideally, you will have:
We care more about finding the right attorney than checking every box. Attorneys with somewhat more or less experience who believe this position would be a good fit are encouraged to apply.
We take our work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously.
Our office is intentionally comfortable and approachable. Jeans and sweatshirts are common when we're not in court, and clients frequently tell us that the relaxed environment makes it easier to talk openly about difficult and personal issues.
That informality does not extend to the quality of our work. We care deeply about our clients, preparation, professionalism, and providing excellent legal representation. We simply don't believe doing those things requires an overly formal law-office environment.
We are a small office, which also means our attorneys aren't buried several layers below the client or the courtroom. You'll know your clients, work on meaningful cases, and have the opportunity to become a capable and independent family-law attorney.
Anticipated total compensation: $75,000–$125,000+, based on experience and production.
The position includes a $55,000 guaranteed base salary plus substantial production-based compensation. Our compensation structure rewards productivity and provides significant earning potential as an attorney develops their practice and caseload.
We believe attorneys who generate revenue for the firm should share meaningfully in that success. The compensation structure is transparent and tied directly to collected revenue rather than discretionary bonuses.
Benefits include:
We aren't looking for a perfect résumé. We're looking for a good lawyer, or someone with the potential to become a very good one, who wants meaningful responsibility, direct client relationships, courtroom experience, and a comfortable place to practice law.
lease submit a résumé and a brief introduction describing your experience, your interest in litigation or family law, and why you think Muter Law Office might be a good fit to employment@muterlaw.com.
All inquiries and applications will be treated confidentially.
